Justin Jacob Louis is a fashion designer from the Samson Cree Nation and was born and raised in Nipisihkopahk (Samson Reserve) on Treaty 6 Territory in Alberta, Canada. He is the Founder and Creative Director of acclaimed Indigenous streetwear label SECTION 35, which was founded in 2014 in Vancouver, Canada. SECTION 35 was officially launched in 2016, with his goal and mission being to use art and fashion to tell his people’s stories. His work blends the past with the present, and the inspiration that comes from the juxtaposition of the two.
Justin was a finalist for Menswear Designer of the Year at the 2022 Canadian Art and Fashion Awards ("CAFA") in Toronto. His work has been featured in numerous publications from Vogue to Complex, and was included in New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art exhibition, "In America: A Lexicon of Fashion”.
Justin Jacob Louis is an eponymous Indigenous owned luxury label, founded in 2023 by Justin Jacob Louis. A celebration of his Nehiyaw (Plains Cree) culture, language and homelands along the Batter River, the brand injects these elements onto a blank canvas to
be reimagined into a future of Indigenous designed luxury goods, guided by and honouring the ancestral connections he carries proudly. Justin Jacob Louis is a gender inclusive label with a focus on luxury and sustainability.
